A House But Not A Home

Returning to the four walls,
Where shadows and silence fall
I sit and think,
“Why does everything here sink so deep?”

Life led in a house,
But never in a home,
Life led in sorrows,
And never in tomorrows.

I see them around me,
But they don’t connect with me.
The hands are cold now,
In a past that’s grown old now,

Life led in a house,
But never in a home,
Life led in agony,
But not in ecstasy.

The heart stays motionless,
Feelings remain emotionless,
The walls start to crack,
As the soul begins to slack.

Life led in a house,
But never a home,
Life led in misery,
But not in merry.
