My cherished memory with my mother

One of my treasured memories is of a winter afternoon spent with my mother in our house. I must have been around 7 or 9 years old. She had decided to teach me how to bake a cake. I remember being so excited to learn this new skill and spend quality time with her. As we measured out the ingredients and mixed the batter, she told me stories about her own childhood and the time she spent baking with her mother. Her eyes sparkled with joy. I felt so happy in that moment.

As the cake baked into perfection in the oven, the aroma filled the entire house, making our mouths water in anticipation. Finally, it was time to take it out of the oven. We let it cool. My mother let me do the honour of frosting and decorating it.

The end result was a beautiful, delicious cake that we enjoyed together as a family but more than the cake itself, I cherish the memory of the special time spent with my mother. It’s a reminder of the love, patience and joy that she brings in my life and I’ll always treasure it.
